Associate Professor Lester Pepingco (MBBS (Hons), BMedSc, FRACGP, MMed (Skin Cancer)) is the Director of the Hobart Clinical School at the University of Tasmania School of Medicine and the Principal/Director of Derwent Valley Medical Centre. He is actively involved in medical student education across Tasmania and also serves as Clinical Lead at New Norfolk District Hospital, where he has admitting rights and contributes to inpatient care.
Lester studied medicine at the University of Sydney, graduating with honours, and completed his early medical training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he was awarded Intern Doctor of the Year.
He has a strong interest in medical education and has previously worked as an Associate Clinical Lecturer with the University of Sydney. His research has been published in the Medical Journal of Australia and the ANZ Journal of Surgery, and he was awarded the Australian Medical Association Stawell Prize for research most likely to influence clinical practice and improve the health of Australians. In 2022, he was named RACGP Supervisor of the Year.
In 2025, he completed a Master of Medicine in Skin Cancer at the University of Queensland.
Outside of medicine, Lester enjoys spending time with his wife, his dogs Blinky and Pockets, and woodworking.
